This has to be the best Industrial chandelier I have seen to date. The skeletal nature of this lamp suggests that it once was the long-hidden workings of a more decorative fixture. Liberated from it’s original housing it’s ready to make a statement all its own. The chandelier was manufactured by the National X-Ray Reflector Company, an important early 20th Century maker known for its unique mercury glass mirrored shades. Early X-Ray advertising for their reflectors promised to “Tire Eyes Less!” by reducing electric glare. Because of the fragile nature of this glass, shades have become quite rare. This impressive lamp holds a collection of 5 original shades. Each shade has it’s original green paint and is signed by the maker with a gold and black decal. This is also the first fixture I have found signed by X-Ray. Of special note are the decorative custom cast iron 5 hook chain hangers. These are unique to the fixture and evidence of its quality. This chandelier will definitely make a dramatic statement…. SOLD
Here’s an early 1916 advertisement for X-Ray Lamps. If you were wondering just what type of lighting fixture the “Skeletal Chandelier” is from…. This ad will give you a hint.
