1800s Norfolk and Western Bright Finish Railroad Dining Car Double Chandelier
Few of these luxury class Victorian RR lamps still exist. Any remaining examples have found their way into museums. This was the type and quality of center lighting used in private luxury Pullman cars of that era. They were also part of the elaborate personal train cars built for The Rockefeller’s and Vanderbilt’s. This is a beautiful original double chandelier still retaining its original Bluegreen over white porcelain shades. The shades ave some touch-up but are nice. An interesting and unique detail is the brass match striker on the side of the main tube and the original piped smoke catchers above each lamp. Everything was carefully wired to take a standard bulbs. This lamp is signed N&W and was made for the Norfolk and Western railroad by Adams & Westlake. The fonts are also signed Plume and Atwood Co. This is a nice piece of railroad history… 10x28x24″… $4800
