Collection of Original Early Bronze Subway Lamps

Here are 4 matching and original Japanned finish subway lamps. The size is 4.5 inch square by 13″ deep. They are elegant in their simplicity. The bronze plate and neck are cast in one piece and hold a thick porcelain socket. This all sits on a square extended tube from a ceiling plate. These fixtures were the first step in electric lighting. Gas lamps were considered old fashioned so proudly showing the light bulb was fashionable and cutting edge for it’s time. Just walk through New York City’s Grand Central Station. All the original lighting is in the exposed bulb style… This small fixture was an extension of that. These lamps will also work well as a table lamp in a candle stick style. Everything as found and original. We have 4 matching fixtures priced at $550 each…. $2200 for the set
